Make Your Own Wedding Rings
£350 per couple + precious metal
 
Spend the day together making your wedding rings by hand using traditional jewellery-making techniques.
 
Unlike my shorter wax-carving workshop, here you’ll work directly with your chosen precious metal, learning the processes used by jewellers to turn lengths of gold into finished wedding bands.
Over approximately five hours, I’ll guide you through forming, soldering, filing, shaping and polishing your rings.
 
No previous jewellery-making experience is needed.

Workshop Setting
Workshops take place in my working jewellery studio in South Bermondsey, a relaxed shared creative space where I make my own collections and bespoke pieces.
 
For designs requiring specialist equipment or processes, the workshop may instead take place in a hired London jewellery studio. I’ll confirm the location with you in advance.
 
For full-day workshops, I provide a simple picnic-style lunch. When the weather is kind, we can take a break from the bench and eat in the nearby community garden.

Choose Make Your Own Wedding Rings if you’d like to work directly in precious metal and learn traditional jewellery-making skills.
 
If you’re drawn to more organic and sculptural designs developed through wax carving and natural references, you may prefer my Botanical Ring Workshop.
 
Precious metal is charged separately.
 
How much will the gold cost?
Your metal cost depends on your ring size, chosen width and thickness, overall weight, and the metal and carat you choose.
 
As a rough guide for 9ct gold:
Lightweight ring — from approximately £180
Around 2g finished weight
Medium-weight ring — from approximately £250+
Around 4–5g finished weight
A fine 2mm band, for example, will use considerably less gold than a broad or substantial wedding band.
 
I’ll estimate the required weight and give you a material quote before ordering your metal.
 
Other metals and carats, including 14ct, 18ct or 22ct gold, can also be quoted.
 
Stone setting, engraving and specialist finishes can be added separately if you would like to develop the designs further.
 
Why does this workshop cost more than the wax-carving workshop?
This is a longer and more technically involved experience.
You’ll spend the day working directly in precious metal and learning traditional bench skills using specialist jewellery-making tools and equipment.
